Five fellowships: "Centre for Arts and Humanities Research (CAHR), Natural History Museum" - Kingston University (UK) - Deadline: November 4, 2011

To further develop its partnership with the Centre for Arts and Humanities Research (CAHR) at the Natural History Museum, Kingston University is seeking to appoint Research Fellows for a period of up to two years to work on the strategic development of research programmes which draw upon the immensely rich resources available to arts and humanities scholars at the Natural History Museum. Five fellowships are advertised with responsibility for initiating programmes of research aligned to the following research themes:
1. Natural History and Global History
2. Visual Cultures of Natural History
3. Literatures and Texts
4. Philosophy and Theory of Natural History
5. Museology and Natural History
The Fellowships consist of a £5,000 p.a. stipend payable to the employing institution of the successful applicant. This is intended to cover the costs of research support needed to facilitate the Fellowship. Candidates must be employed in an HEI in the UK, and must have a strong track record of research, publication and grant capture relevant to the one of the themes identified above. This is an exciting opportunity to develop innovative arts and humanities projects at the Natural History Museum researching the historical, cultural, social, political and economic significance of the Museum collections. Fellows will be expected to contribute to CAHR activities, thereby creating a new interdisciplinary arts and humanities research community at the NHM.
