STEP - Science and Technology in the European Periphery

The Science Museum of Western Virginia (SMWV) located in Roanoke, Virginia seeks an executive director who will serve as the chief executive officer and is responsible for the strategic leadership to ensure the museum’s future relevance, credibility and viability. This individual enters during an exciting time of museum reinvention and, in concert with the museum’s board of directors, the executive director is responsible for establishing organizational objectives and priorities, reviewing and evaluating progress for the attainment of institutional objectives, and securing the necessary resources to realize the desired program outcomes. Additionally, the executive director will provide leadership to the new collaboration between the museum and Virginia Tech by facilitating partnerships among faculty, staff, and students to create active learning opportunities for the museum’s many stakeholders, while at the same time providing new platforms for the advancement of scholarship.

This is a joint position with the SMWV and Virginia Tech. This position offers a full-benefit package and the salary range is $70,000-$80,000 commensurate with experience.
