Postdoctoral research associate: "Epistemic Practice, Social Organization, and Scientific Culture: Configurations of Nanoscale Research in Switzerland" - University of Luzern (Switzerland) - Deadline: Feb. 1, 2011

From March 1, 2011 a position of

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (50-60 %)

will be available in the research project "Epistemic Practice, Social Organization, and Scientific Culture: Configurations of Nanoscale Research in Switzerland", funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The project is affiliated with the Department of Sociology at the University of Lucerne (Switzerland). It investigates, for the case of Switzerland, how the nanosciences establish themselves as a research field with a particular interest in institutional dynamics, scientific practices, and cultural representations. Contrasting case studies in adjacent research fields are intended to achieve a more elaborate understanding and classification of the Swiss situation. Prerequisites for employment are a doctoral degree within the field of humanities and social sciences, a research focus on Science and Technology Studies (STS), extensive experience in the use of qualitative research methods, an excellent command of English, and good reading knowledge of German. This is a fixed-term position until September 30, 2012.

Conditions of employment correspond to the personnel regulations of the Canton of Lucerne. The salary is based on the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
