The Research Cluster in Science, Technology and Society at the University of Southern
California seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate for a two-year appointment (to be renewed
after the first year) in the department of Sociology, beginning in the Fall 2011. The
STS Research Cluster is a new interdisciplinary initiative that seeks to foster contemporary
and historical inquiry into the contexts of scientific knowledge production and the

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will develop a research project, teach one course
per year (in a discipline appropriate to his or her training), and play an active role in
the design and coordination of the activities of the STS Research Cluster. Applicants with
backgrounds in anthropology, art history, communication, history, literature, sociology and
related fields are encouraged to apply. Candidates for the position must have received
their PhD by June 2011. Prospective candidates should send a letter describing their
