GONVILLE AND CAIUS COLLEGE

GONVILLE AND CAIUS COLLEGE

Gonville and Caius College appoints annually up to twelve Teaching
Associates to help provide supervision for undergraduate students.
Applications for appointment are welcome from current or potential
supervisors in any field. Where there is a particular need at the
College for supervision in certain subjects, they are listed at the
foot of this page, and priority will naturally be given to securing
supervision in those subjects. It is expected that Teaching Associates
will be able and willing to provide around four hours of supervision
each week during Full Term. As well as being paid at the standard rate
for all supervisions provided, Teaching Associates will be entitled to
two free meals each week during Full Term with the Fellows of the
College, and to bring one paying guest to High Table each term. In
addition, an annual book allowance of up to £200 (on submission of
receipts) will be available. Although made annually, Teaching
Associate appointments may be renewed on application.

Applicants are eligible for appointment only if they have no current
affiliation to any College in the University. The assumption is that
most applicants will be engaged in research in the University at
post-doctoral level, but other possibilities may exist.

Applications for appointment, consisting of a letter indicating the
subjects in which supervision could be provided and for how many
hours, together with a curriculum vitae, should be sent to the Senior
Tutor of the College by 20th May 2013. Applications in the form of
emailed attachments are acceptable: these should be sent to:
senior.tutor@cai.cam.ac.uk. Relevant Directors of Studies will be
asked to comment on the applications received and, in the light of
their expressions of need and interest, recommendations will be made
to the College Council by the Education and Research Committee.
Applicants should receive a response from the College by the middle of
July. Any successful applicants who wish to be reappointed a year
later should again send a letter and curriculum vitae to the Senior
Tutor making this clear.

The subjects in which the College has a particular need for
supervision at the moment are:
Economics (Microeconomics, Development Economics)
Natural Sciences (Neuroscience)
History and Philosophy of Science
