Niels Bohr Archive 2013 post-doctoral research fellowship.

We are pleased to announce that the Novo Nordisk Foundation, in celebration
of the centennial in 2013 of Niels Bohr’s model of the atom, has donated
funds for a two-year postdoctoral position at the Niels Bohr Archive (NBA),
nba.nbi.dk. The successful applicant will be expected to produce one or
more publications in refereed journals based in whole or in part on the
historical collections held at the NBA. Most of these collections are
described on the website archon.nbi.dk. A PhD degree in the history of
science or a related field is required, and knowledge of physics and of
Scandinavian languages is preferred. The candidate will be evaluated on the
basis of a combination of the applicant’s merits and the promise of the
project proposed. The successful applicant will also be expected to
contribute to the NBA’s general activities and to participate in shapingits
future development. Please submit an application, including a CV and
publication list and 1-3 selected publications as well as documentation for
the PhD degree, by 1 April 2013 to the Director of the Niels Bohr Archive
at *aaserud@nbi.dk*, who will also be happy to answer questions regarding
preparation of an application.

The NBA is an independent institution under the supervision of the
University of Copenhagen with its own board of directors. The applications
will be evaluated by an international committee of historians of science,
and the appointment is scheduled to start on or about 1 September.

Travel to and from Copenhagen before and after the two years of appointment
will be reimbursed. Salary, pension and terms of employment are in
accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the
Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The salary depends
on seniority, as agreed between the Ministry of Finance and the AC.
Currently, starting salaries are about 31,500 DKK (€ 4,200) per month for
postdocs – plus full benefits including pension. Non-Danish candidates
coming from abroad may be eligible for tax reductions.
