ICREA Senior Reseach Position in History of Science - CEHIC, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona - Deadline: April 17, 2012

The Centre for the History of Science (CEHIC) [http://www.cehic.es/] at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) Spain, seeks potential candidates for an ICREA senior research position in History of Science. The post is framed in the ICREA (Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies) 2012 call for 20 senior research positions in all disciplines. The home institution's acceptance (CEHIC) will be a necessary requirement to proceed with the application. ICREA scientific committee will make the final selection.
The CEHIC leads an active academic community of historians of science in Barcelona with growing international links. Recent appointments at the CEHIC are: Fernando Vidal (ICREA senior 2011, starting in fall) and Massimiliano Badino (postdoctoral research fellow), among others.
Minimum requirements for the application are a Ph.D. degree obtained preferably before 2008, with four years of international exposure at pre-doctoral and/or post-doctoral level. Only very strong candidates with an outstanding research record and excellent leadership capabilities will be considered.
Successful applicants will have a permanent contract with ICREA and will work at the CEHIC (UAB). ICREA researchers are required to make substantial contributions to their own areas of research and have a strong impact in the Catalan research system by becoming active members and leaders of the Catalan research community.
Successful candidates will be required to join the host institution no later than September 2013.
Salaries will be in line with those paid at Catalan universities. ICREA research professors will be subject to an evaluation of their research progress and general performance after a three-year period and subsequently every five years. The evaluations will be carried out by external evaluation committees that will assess scientific production as well as research activity. A positive evaluation will lead to a salary increase.

Potential History of Science candidates should contact Dr. Agustí Nieto-Galan [agusti.nieto@uab.cat], director of the CEHIC, before 17 April 2012, including an updated CV as an attached file, and a short statement of research interests for the next five years.
