STEP - Science and Technology in the European Periphery

The fifth event in the AHRC collaborative doctoral training programme 'Theories and Methods: Literature, Science and Medicine' will take place at the Science Museum and Birkbeck College in London on the 14th and 15th of April 2011. Day 1: Science and Film: the Material Culture of Science, Technology and Medicine (Blythe House, Science Museum). Day 2: Image and Object in Art and Science (London Consortium). This event will develop an understanding of the visual and material culture of science, and the ways in which artists have responded to scientific issues and questions. Theorists considered will include Serres, Latour, Shapin, Turkle, Stafford and Daston. Teaching team to include: Steven Connor (LC), Peter Morris (Science Museum), Isobel Armstrong (Birkbeck), Esther Leslie (Birkbeck).
