I am please to announce the released of Ep. #140 of Ottoman History

We have featured a number of interviews with scholars researching the history of science in the Ottoman Empire and Middle East, and I would like to draw special attention to this most recent episode with Marwa Elshakry in which we discuss various facets of her new book entitled "Reading Darwin in Arabic, 1860-1950." Dr. Elshakry's work explores engagement with 19th/20th century scientific developments in the Arab world and in particular Arabic translations and interpretations of Darwin's theory of evolution and those who commented on it.
