Tenure-Track Associate Professor: Historical, Social and Cultural Dimensions of
Modern Physical Science

The Department of History of Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is
accepting applications for a position as Assistant Professor (tenure-track)
beginning August, 2014. Ph.D. in History of Science, History, Science and
Technology Studies, or closely related discipline required prior to start of
appointment. Areas of specialization include the history of physics, chemistry,
earth and atmospheric sciences, astronomy, climatology, and similar physical
sciences of the laboratory or the field.

Teaching experiences is preferred and evidence of outstanding teaching and
research potential required. The successful candidate is expected to engage in
significant ongoing research, to participate actively in the intellectual life
of a faculty with diverse interests, and to embrace departmental commitments to
undergraduate and graduate education.

Candidates will be expected to advance research and teaching in the historical,
social and cultural dimensions of modern physical science, roughly 1750 –
present. Appropriate service to the department and university and in public
outreach is required.

the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as current and future research.
