The master’s degree in the History of Science: Science, History and Society will offer two separate specializations (Research and Professionally Oriented).

The Research specialization will allow students to develop an academic career, subsequently taking doctoral studies in the History of Science and/or the in-depth research of specific aspects of science and technology, and their social and cultural implications in the past.

The professional specialization will allow the student to work in ambits such as communications, the popularization of science, museology and the management of science heritage. In connection with this specialization are offered internships in places like the Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia, the Museum of the History of Medicine of Catalonia, the program Que, qui, com in TV3, Investigación y Ciencia magazine or Ateneu Barcelonès.

The master account as teachers major specialists in the history of science in the area of ​​Barcelona, from ​​the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the University of Barcelona (UB), Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), in addition to outstanding foreign visiting professors.

The Centre for the History of Science (CEHIC-UAB) offers the possibility to do the Master of History of Science part time. It is mandatory register at least in two modules (30 ECTS credits) in the first year, and in two modules (30 ETCS credits) in the second.
This method, which allows splitting the price of tuition is ideal for those who want to combine a job with their training as an historian.

This master also offers two specific grants:

1. The Center for History of Science offers 3 grants of € 500 each to cover part of the tuition of the master.

2. The "Foundation URIACH 1838", and the Center for History of Science offer a 12 month contract as a senior technical research support. The candidate will elaborate a database from the Historical Library of the Health Sciences "Foundation URIACH 1838".

The deadline for submitting applications for both grants is September 15, 2013.
