CFP: British Society for the History of Science Postgraduate Conference - Manchester, January 4-6, 2011 - Deadline: Dec. 6, 2010

Registration is now open for the British Society for the held at the University of Manchester from 4th to 6th January 2011.

This year’s conference features around sixty papers on a wide variety of topics across the history of science, technology and medicine delivered by postgraduates from the United Kingdom and further afield.

The conference will open for registration at midday on Tuesday 4th January. There will be a drinks reception on Tuesday evening, and a conference dinner on Wednesday evening. There will also be a number of presentations on topics of interest to delegates, such as careers and research resources.

Conference fees:

The base fee for registration is £39.

The conference dinner will be held at Christie’s Bistro in the picturesque surroundings of the old university library, at the cost of £35. A vegetarian option is available; if you require this, please indicate on the registration form.

To register, please complete the appropriate form which can be found at the conference website and mail it, along with a payment cheque, to the address below. The deadline for registration and payment will be Monday 6th December 2010.

Venue and travel:

The conference will be held in the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine, which is situated at the centre of the South Campus of the University. Maps can be found at:

The Centre is roughly 20 minutes’ walk from Manchester Piccadilly railway station, or a 5-minute walk and a short bus journey. Manchester Oxford Road railway station is 10 minutes’ walk or a short bus journey from the Centre. For visitors from further afield, Piccadilly railway station is 15 minutes away from Manchester International Airport by train, or the Centre can be reached by the number-43 bus, which is a 55-minute journey.
